The most important things we gather in a lifetime aren't things.

We believe the memories, experiences and stories that make up a life, and the wisdom we gain from them, are the most important things we gather in our brief time on this planet. So we built Aatlas: one place to gather a person's life story from everyone who knows them, and keep it.

What we believe

Every life holds stories worth keeping.

Aatlas isn't only for the famous. A grandmother, a teacher, a neighbor, a best friend: every life holds experiences and lessons worth keeping. Start an Aatlas for someone living, someone who has died, or yourself.

No single voice can convey the full story.

Some life-story services ask one person to tell it all. An Aatlas gathers memories from everyone who knows them, so no one has to do all the work, and people bring photos and stories you've never seen.

Every story in its time and place.

Aatlas organizes what everyone adds into a Timeline, a Places Map, a 1-Click Slideshow and Memories. Each one keeps growing as people add more.

Every kind of memory, in one place

Stories, photos, videos, audio files and voice recordings. Speak a memory out loud and Aatlas writes it down for you. Letters and documents can be added as photos.

Our promises

We believe trust matters most when the story is someone’s life. That’s why every Aatlas is private, built to last and yours to keep. Many free services earn their money from advertising or from selling what people share. Aatlas is paid for by your one-time purchase, and that’s what makes these promises possible.

You decide who sees it

Only the people you invite can see your Aatlas. Nothing is public, or shown to search engines, unless you ask us to make it public and we review the request. We never sell your information, and we never show ads.

A life story should last

You pay once. We never charge you to keep your Aatlas, and we never delete an Aatlas for inactivity. If Aatlas ever has to close, we'll tell you at least 90 days ahead and send every Aatlas owner a complete copy.

You own the content

Your Aatlas belongs to you. Ask any time and we’ll send you all of it.

Satisfaction, guaranteed

If it isn't what you hoped for, 30 days and a full refund. No questions asked.

Who's behind Aatlas

Logan Ray, founder of Aatlas

Logan Ray

Founder

When my dad died in 2004, I remember walking around his wake at Louie’s bar in Dallas, TX, hearing story after story about him from his friends and acquaintances —spontaneous baseball games, hilarious travel mishaps, the way he lit up a room. I remember wishing so badly later that  I could have recorded them all.  Those spontaneous stories painted such a rich picture of who he was as a person.

I’m a designer and maker, and years later, Aatlas started as a sketched idea of a “map of life/lives” or “Atlas Animus”—a way to see a person’s life events and story come together in place and time. After working on it for a several years on nights and weekends, it’s grown into a simple way for people to gather photos, memories, and stories about someone they love from friends and family and turn them into something lasting.

Working on Aatlas has only solidified my belief in the value of creating and sharing life stories.  As humans, shared stories are an ancient and intuitive way for us to honor people, get inspired, share life lessons and make sense of our fleeting time on this rock flying through space.

Aatlas isn’t striving to showcase just the polished version of life — social media does that just fine.  But if you’re looking for a safe space to share the stories of a life well lived — not just the highlights, but also the struggles, the quirks, the detours, the unexpected (and isn’t so much of it unexpected?). If it helps one more person hear how much they mattered while they’re still alive, it’s worth it.

Heartfelt thanks for considering Aatlas to document the life of someone you care about.
